This blog post post by Anna Vennonen draws on the ethnographic study she conducted for her Master’s Thesis at the University of Helsinki in 2023, titled: ‘More than Money: An Ethnography of Dreams, Value and Community in the Cryptoscene’. The research was supported by a scholarship from Blockchain Research Lab.

By using a synthetic difference-in-difference methodology approach, the newly published article reveals that a group of AI-crypto-assets curated by CoinGecko enjoyed a price boost of at least 10.7% and 35.5% beyond non-AI-crypto-assets in the one-month and two-month period after the ChatGPT launch.
