The State of Cryptocurrency Adoption: Germany Q4 2019

Abstract:

The BRL Report “The State of Cryptocurrency Adoption: Germany Q4 2019“ provides new insights into cryptocurrencies in Germany, based on a representative online survey among more than 3,000 participants.

Key findings include:

  • High awareness: 87% of respondents know Bitcoin, 64% know blockchain technology.
  • High rate of ownership: 14.1% of respondents own cryptocurrency, compared to 19.3% who own stocks.
  • Small investments and high returns: The average cryptocurrency owner invested €2,546 and now holds a portfolio worth €4,716. This is an increase of 85%.
  • Unequal adoption: 69% of cryptocurrency owners are male; the average owner is ten years younger, better educated, and earns €400 more per month than the average non-owner.
