The Blockchain Research Lab promotes independent science and research on blockchain technology and the publication of the results in the form of scientific papers and contributions to conferences and other media. The BRL is a non-profit organisation aiming, on the one hand, to further the general understanding of the blockchain technology and, on the other hand, to analyse the resulting challenges and opportunities and their socio-economic consequences.
The BRL focuses on developing adequate approaches to blockchain technology, its associated risks and opportunities. This necessitates public debates within and among the realms of science, politics and business, as well as private and public institutions. The BRL considers itself a platform for the exchange of issues, ideas and insights for the further development and adaption of blockchain technology and its consequences for society. The aim is to work out essential foundations for science, business, politics and society.
The BRL awards scholarships to high-potential, motivated and committed scientists. In light of the diversity and complexity of the challenges associated with the new technology, the company places particular emphasis on interdisciplinary research. The scholarships enable the recipients to work on their projects independently and autonomously. Research projects are not limited to individual disciplines or areas but rather cover various scientific fields, markets and industries.
